The Bournemouth Balloon

If you have a head for heights, have always wanted to see amazing views from the air, then the Bournemouth Balloon is the ideal experience for you.

Set in the beautiful Bournemouth Gardens, the Bournemouth Balloon is run under sponsorship of Healthy Life. You get a fabulous ride up on the static wire (though it can be a bit breezy!)

Once up you can see the most spectacular views of the area. See the video on the Bournemouth Balloon website. This is also an ideal present to give someone as although it is weather dependent it isn’t so much as a proper hot air balloon that normally goes off at dawn or dusk , floating over the countryside or towns.

The gardens in Bournemouth are fabulous as well.

Bournemouth Air Festival

Organisers of this years Bournemouth Air Festival Thursday 28th August – Sunday 31st August 2014, have unveiled some of the main attractions. The Canberra will be part of the festival, the worlds’ first jet powered bomber. There will be a unique chance to see two Lancaster bombers flying together, when a Canadian Lancaster joins the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.

The Mid Air Squadron Canberra XH134 joined the R.A.F. in 1951 as the first jet powered bomber. It is believed to be the worlds longest serving bomber, having been retired in 2006 from active duty. It is the only airworthy Canberra of its type in the world.

The sight of the two Canadian Lancaster bombers in the Battle of Britain Memorial in flight is a meeting that will only happen once and is unlikely to ever be repeated.

The Red Arrows will be displaying on all four days of the Bournemouth Air Festival, which is fantastic and always a crowd puller. Thursday 3.15pm, Friday 3pm, Saturday 4.35pm and Sunday at 12.10pm so put those times in your diary.

This year we will have a longer dusk display starting at 7.15pm Thursday , Friday and Saturday. The Blades will perform a sunset display on the Friday and Saturday. The evening line up will finish with the Red Devils Parachute Team.

Brownsea Island lives just off of Poole Harbour and Sandbanks. Reached by public ferries, Brownsea Island, is owned and operated by National Trust. Home to the Red Squirrel, it is a tranquil retreat from the hustle and bustle of daily life. Hop on the ferry and take a trip to an island that has no cars. Walk around and enjoy the flora and fauna. If you take a pic nic there are a few little beaches to sit and rest and enjoy the spectacular views across Poole Harbour. National Trust have a great café to finish off your day whilst you wait for the ferry back .

Poole is also a great place to stop and enjoy. Poole park with its massive boating lake, often has festivals or just a chance to walk and enjoy. Poole harbour is home to Sunseeker and you often see a varity of very expensive yatchs.

Sandbanks is another fabulous area, reputably the 4th most expensive place in the world to live , the little ferry will take you across to Brownsea Island but it is worth taking a break and visit the beautiful sandy beach, be amazed by the kite surfers, or just people watch.

Rosscourt is only 4 miles from the Sandbanks ferry and 6 miles from Poole.

Buses to Sandbanks and Poole from Boscombe Bus station. Even an open topped bus to enjoy the scenery uninterrupted
